Validation of Elastic-Plastic Wellbore Finite Element Model

This page demonstrates how analytical soliutions from the literature can be utilized to validate nonlinear elastic-plastic finite element analysis. The problem examined is wellbore failure due to excessive drawdown pressure. The Abaqus finite element software, which has geomechanics modeling capabilities was utilized in this study. Software was written to implement the analytical formulation for this problem given in {1}. Elastic-plastic finite element solutions from Abaqus matched the analytical solutions.
